Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a digital ruble bill into law, enabling the central bank to issue its native digital currency. The digital ruble, managed by the central bank, will function alongside traditional payment methods. Initially considered a tool against sanctions and a means to control government spending on social projects, the digital ruble also allows for monitoring and limiting private citizens' spending habits.
